Here is the finished off-the-shoulder wrap with the glittering "rose" button that was machine needle felted and then wet felted. This nuno felted wrap which was shown in a previous post took about 1600 rolls (no kidding!) and then I added some free motion stitching and used my trusty Embellisher to add some silk ribbon before stitching it down too. I'm really please with it although when I initially dyed the silk chiffon it turned out a soft green gray rather than the silver gray I initially had hoped for. To be a precise dyer you should measure and take notes but since I never want or need to repeat a colorway, I'd rather spend my time playing!

You have had a really busy weekend! All your felted pieces are amazing.
ReplyDeleteJust found you through the felting forum. This piece is absolutely gorgeous! I am not a precise dyer either - nothing ever comes out the same but that's OK as it adds to the fun.
ReplyDeleteMargo you creations are fantastic. Will you being doing any classes or trunk shows in Maryland in 2008?
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for you kind comments -- it is such fun to get feedback from those who love felting and color as well! (we have to stick together!) Lilning - I do have a trunk show and workshop scheduled for Maryland Sewing and Vacuum on March 15 in Clinton, Maryland. They are hosting the very first Embelisher Town Hall Meeting as well! If you aren't too far away maybe you could make it. I know the workshop is just about full and they will have machines for this event! (we'll have a great time!)
ReplyDeleteOh no! I'll be out of town then. I did get your book and will wait for trunk show/workshop in the area to get it signed. BTW good book!
