A wonderful tribute from my wonderful firstborn, Andrea. This weekend I'll post pictures of the B&D cordless sander that I got for my birthday! I began trying it out last night but didn't get too far - phone calls kept me quite busy all evening so the felting will have to wait until tomorrow!
Margo,
ReplyDeleteBe very careful with the vibration on the sander. Wear a shock-proof glove and stop frequently. Nerve damage can occur very quickly and you cannot tell until it is too late. I speak from experience. Also wear ear protection!
All the best to you, Andrea
Andrea - thank you for the heads-up - I really had no idea. I've never heard of shock proof gloves but I'll look into them right away! I sure don't want/need any more nerve damage than I already have (hours of sitting at the sewing machine in one position)doing free motion stitching.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Margo,
ReplyDeleteI used my sander (my favorite Christmas present:-) for the first time just a couple of days ago. I'm glad to hear the tips about gloves and ear protection...Hadn't thought about that. Also, and you probably know this, check your work frequently. What was to be a shrug for me, wound up being about the right size for my dog... Unfortunately, not his colors and he prefers to dress in his "birthday suit", so back to the drawing board for me. I knew this was something to watch for from past readings, but was having too much fun with my new "power tool" and got completely off track, but I can see where this will be a real help, especially on larger pieces.
Hope you have a great weekend. Will look forward to reading about your sander experience.
Take care,
Dawn
That being said....you'll *love* it. Especially for those nuno pieces where you don't want things to move to much.
